| When
the biting cold of winter sets in, the shores of Egypt, stretching
unpolluted for miles and miles, offers the warmth of the sun that
has deserted other shores to shine only here honoring, it seems, the
ancient days when the sun was an Egypt deity.Despite the passage of
time, the sun still remains friendly to Egypt, and invites you to
enjoy a winter warmth away from the bitter snowy cold, and a pleasant
summer breeze far from the oppressive midday heat.Egypt, a world renowned
winter resort, has numerous beautiful beaches. Its northern coast
from Sallum to Rafah is 1181 km. long; its eastern coastline, from
Suez to Halayeb, is some 1085 km. long; while the shores on the Gulfs
of Suez and Aqaba teem with the most exquisite beaches, spectacular
coral reefs and large varieties of colored fish, rarely found elsewhere.Anyone
who has seen these beaches must return many times to feast their eyes
and fill their hearts with these attractive images that forever remain
stamped in the memory, as if one were viewing the most exquisite paintings
on earth.Once again, in the name of the sun, we invite you to visit
us. We emphatically declare that you will have no regrets, but will
come back many, many times. |
ALEXANDRIA
|
| Alexandria is
the shining pearl of the Mediterranean, and a beacon radiating its
deep-rooted culture and heritage to the world at large. The second
largest city and the main port of Egypt, Alexandria was built by the
Greek architect Dinocrates (332-331 B.C.) on the site of an old fishing
village called Rhakotis, at the orders of Alexander the Great. The
city, immortalizing Alexander's name, flourished, beyond all expectations,
into a prominent cultural, intellectual and economic metropolis, the
remains of which are still evident to this day.It was the renowned
capitol of the Ptolemies, with numerous and diverse monuments. It
was the scene of the most thrilling drama involving Cleopatra, Julius
Ceasar, Marc Anthony and Octavius. |
| Alexandria lies
nothwest of the Nile Delta and adjoins Lake Mariut. It is linked to
Cairo by the Delta Road (231 km.) and the Desert Road (225 km.). It
is one of the most notable summer resorts in the Middle East, known
for its temperate winters and beaches, with soft sands and magnificent
scenery that stetch for 40 km. along the Mediterranean Sea, from Abu
Kir, in the east, to Sidi Abdul Rahman, in the west. |
